About Ross Dickinson and “Through my lens”
Photography has been my long time hobby. When I bought my first digital camera I purchased an Epson Stylus Photo 2000P, which printed with archival inks. I would do printing for a friend that had a framing shop in exchange for framing my pictures. We discovered the need to calibrate our monitors for me to be able to effectively print his photos with true color, so I became proficient in calibrating monitors and printers with ICC profiles. I wore out the first printer and then purchased an Epson Stylus Photo 2200. This printer worked well for several years, but I wore it out as well. Then I worked with an Epson Photo Stylist 3880for several years, and replaced it with another Epson, the Epson Surecolor P900. My matting and framing room is in the process of getting set up. I hesitate to make my hobby a job by committing to doing photography for $$$ vs LOVE. I really like taking pictures, making custom greeting cards, making web galleries and framing my photos for hanging on my walls .It’s really all about sharing the memories! I’ve been persuaded by friends to sell some of my work and that feels good. Sharing is the key theme here so…! Now that I am a widower it is time to answer the $$$ vs LOVE question!
I’ve traveled to many events with the “adult” marching bands my wife played with, so I’ve become pretty adept at capturing the flavor of those events with my camera. I am just setting up this web presence (a long time dream), so keep poking “Through my Lens” to get an idea of my photographic style.
The purpose of this web site is to share the beauty of the world that surrounds us and to share the wonderful experiences my wife and I have when traveling with The Beat Goes On Marching Band (TBGO). Stay tuned.
Now that I'm in Baker City I think I found a location to try to pursue my dream of making personalize greeting cards. Many people here seem to be internet savey, with Facebook groups already getting traffic. I'm implementing a Client-Response software from The Turning Gate which will aid in the custom design of the card.
